A slight tilt, a movement across the surface or a variation in a colour transition. These are the marks left by handmade work and by the nature of the clay. Such marks make each ceramic object one of a kind and personal. This is why KUSUR is part of Soil & Oil's approach to making, one that leaves room for the material to have the last word.

KUSUR Pulse is an aromatherapy set: a handmade, two-piece stoneware ceramic oil burner, a ceramic candle cup filled with a KUSUR candle and a 10 ml PULSE essential oil blend. The name KUSUR, Turkish for imperfection, does not speak of a mistake but of the trace of handwork: from slip casting in a mould to demoulding and hand finishing, each piece takes around 5 hours of work, and the tilts given by hand during finishing mean that no oil burner is ever identical to another.
The heart of the earth, keeping your rhythm.
Russet brown, the most heartfelt of the earth’s pigments. PULSE stands for the pulse of life, and for looking for love within it. A ceramic oil burner, the water turning inside it and the rising vapour. Each of them draws you a little closer to the earth, to yourself and to your own rhythm.
When to light it?
- In the evening, when you want to set the day down and return to your own pace
- To prepare the room before meditation, yoga or breathwork
- At the end of the longest day of the week, when you want a quiet of your own
- For a special evening, alone or with someone, when you want to bring warmth and depth to the room
Set Contents
- PULSE Ceramic Oil Burner (russet brown, 2 pieces; upper bowl + lower body)
- PULSE Ceramic Candle Cup, filled with a KUSUR candle (russet brown; the candle burns for around 5 hours, and once it is finished you can place a standard tealight in the cup)
- PULSE Essential Oil Blend (10 ml)
PULSE Essential Oil Blend
Sweet Orange Oil · Lavender Oil · Cedarwood Oil · Ylang Ylang Oil
Scent Profile: Warm · Floral · Woody · Deep
| Oil | Origin | Scent Character |
|---|---|---|
| Sweet Orange Oil | Citrus sinensis peel | Sweet, warm and soft citrus notes |
| Lavender Oil | Lavandula angustifolia flowers | Elegant, floral and rounded aromatic texture |
| Cedarwood Oil | Cedrus atlantica wood | Deep, dry and woody character |
| Ylang Ylang Oil | Cananga odorata flowers | Rich, exotic and velvety floral aroma |
Warm citrus notes meet woody depth, and floral textures add a soft transition between them. PULSE is a rich, enveloping scent composition that keeps company with the slower pace at the end of the day.
Note: Fill the upper bowl halfway, with around 300 ml of warm water, and add 8–10 drops. Top up the water as it runs low; oil left in the bowl can burn and spoil the scent. After use, put out the candle and clean your oil burner.
- Dimensions: Upper bowl Ø15 × 5 cm · Lower body Ø19 × 7 cm · Total height approx. 12–13 cm
- Weight: Approx. 1 kg (upper bowl ~550 g, lower body ~450 g) · Approx. 1,450 g packed

Customer Experiences
When I first saw it, I did not even know what it was designed for, but I fell in love with its form. Then I learned the story behind it. Now I have more than a beautiful ceramic object: a keepsake that also carries other people’s stories and feelings.
I love how natural and light the scents are. A few drops are enough. I especially enjoy using it in the evenings when I am spending time at home.
When I first saw it, I did not realise it was an oil burner. When I am not using it, it sits in the living room as a decorative object. I love both its design and the way it works.
The packaging was truly careful; even though it is ceramic, I never felt uneasy opening the box. The piece itself is even more beautiful than in the photos. I usually use it in the evenings, and it has become a small habit at home.
