KUSUR Glow is an aromatherapy set: a handmade, two-piece stoneware ceramic oil burner, a ceramic candle cup filled with a KUSUR candle and a 10 ml GLOW essential oil blend. The name KUSUR, Turkish for imperfection, does not speak of a mistake but of the trace of handwork: from slip casting in a mould to demoulding and hand finishing, each piece takes around 5 hours of work, and the tilts given by hand during finishing mean that no oil burner is ever identical to another.

Light loves fine, delicate lines most of all.

The natural texture on the surface of raw ceramic is a trace of grace and honesty. With the inner warmth of its off-white tone, GLOW makes the small, real moments of the day visible. Rather than polished surfaces, it keeps company with the story that natural textures tell.

A well-judged pairing of lively citrus notes and soft floral textures… GLOW leaves a fresh, bright first impression, then opens slowly into softer layers. Through the different moments of the day, it brings a fresh, even atmosphere to the room.

Note: For use, we suggest adding 8–10 drops to warm water filling the upper bowl of the GLOW oil burner halfway. We recommend putting out the candle before the water has fully evaporated, so the oil does not burn, and then cleaning your oil burner.

Every piece is the product of its own clay and its own day in the studio. Size, colour tone and surface texture vary visibly from piece to piece. This is not a flaw; it is the record of handmade work.

How to Use
  1. Place the candle cup in the centre of the lower body. On first use, the cup comes filled with a KUSUR candle; once it is finished, you can place a standard tealight inside.
  2. Fill the upper bowl halfway, with around 300 ml of warm water, and add 8–10 drops of the GLOW blend.
  3. Light the candle and set the upper bowl on top of the lower body.
  4. Never leave a burning candle unattended. Top up the water as it runs low; when you have finished, put out the candle and clean the bowl.

For a morning ritual: Light it as the day opens, before the first message or in a bright moment of your own. The scent of GLOW works like a door, and once you step through it, the day begins at its own pace.

Technical Notes & Safe Use
  • The essential oil blend has no carrier: it contains no carrier oil or synthetic additives
  • Use the oils only in the oil burner, in water; do not apply them directly to the skin
  • Less is more: 8–10 drops are enough, and more can cause a headache
  • Top up the water as it runs low; oil left in the bowl can burn and spoil the scent
  • If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, or for children under 3, seek professional advice before use
  • Use in a well-ventilated place out of reach of pets; if you have cats, ask your vet first
  • Scent intensity may vary slightly with the harvest and the season
  • Do not drop the ceramic pieces onto hard surfaces; hand washing is recommended, and they are dishwasher safe
  • The product images show real pieces; because each piece is finished by hand, the form and surface of the KUSUR you receive may differ visibly from the images

What are KUSUR's dimensions?

KUSUR is made of two parts. The upper bowl is approximately 15 cm in diameter and 5 cm high; the lower body is approximately 19 cm in diameter and 7 cm high. Together they stand approximately 12–13 cm tall; because the rims are finished by hand, there can be a difference of about 1 cm from piece to piece.

How heavy is KUSUR?

The ceramic pieces weigh approximately 1 kg in total. With its packaging, the parcel weighs approximately 1,450 g.

How much water and oil should I use?

Fill KUSUR's upper bowl halfway with approximately 300 ml of warm water, then add 8–10 drops of the Soil & Oil blend you have chosen.

How long does the candle burn?

The ceramic candle cup in the KUSUR set comes filled with a KUSUR candle, which burns for approximately 5 hours. Once the candle is finished, you can place a standard tealight in the candle cup and keep using it; standard tealights usually burn for approximately 3 hours.

How long does the water in the bowl last?

300 ml of water lasts approximately 10 hours, depending on conditions of use. So the bowl is not expected to run dry while a single Soil & Oil candle is burning.

Will KUSUR be damaged if the water runs out?

KUSUR is made from stoneware that withstands high temperatures; if the bowl runs dry during use, the ceramic is not damaged under normal conditions. However, oil left in the bowl may burn and spoil the scent, so add water when it runs low. We recommend never leaving a burning candle unattended.

How do I clean KUSUR?

We recommend washing KUSUR by hand; it is also dishwasher safe. Take care not to knock the ceramic against hard surfaces or drop it.

Where is KUSUR made?

KUSUR is made in Antalya. Each piece takes around 5 hours of work, from slip casting in a mould to demoulding and hand finishing. The tilts given by hand and the natural tilt of the bowls make every piece visibly different; no two are the same. This is where the name KUSUR, the Turkish word for imperfection, comes from.

Can it be used around children?

Never leave a burning candle unattended, and use KUSUR out of the reach of children. For pregnant or breastfeeding women and children under 3, we recommend seeking expert advice before using essential oils.

Can it be used around pets?

Sensitivity to essential oils varies between animal species. Use KUSUR in a well-ventilated place that pets cannot reach. For cats and other sensitive animals in particular, we recommend consulting your vet before use.

What do the oils contain?

The GLOW blend contains lemon (Citrus limon), lemongrass (Cymbopogon citratus), grapefruit (Citrus paradisi) and lavender (Lavandula hybrida) oils. The blends contain no carrier oil. GC-MS analysis details will be added to the product information once available.

What happens if my order arrives broken?

If your order arrives broken, contact us when you receive it, with a photo if possible, via info@soilandoil.com, our contact page or Instagram (@soilandoil.co), and we will send you a replacement. You can also use your statutory right of withdrawal within 14 days of delivery.
